Sufzefulnlencfenl' Mr. J. XV. O. Brock is completing his third year as superintendent of the Shelbyville School System. Before becoming superintendent he served 011 the faculty of the high school for 28 years, thc last 20 as its principal. He has become a part of Shelbyville High School and the school has become a part of him. His duties as superintendent range from long range planning of the entire school system to administering first aid for a cut finger. His office is charged with the selection and qualification of all teachers and school city employees, the erection and maintenance of all buildings, the purchase and providing of supplies, and the responsibility for the integrity of the school system. Most important and pressing of his present responsi- bilities is the providing of sufficient class room space and enough teachers to meet the need of a rapidly growing community population. Mr. J. Rami The School Board, whose members directly represent the people of Shelbyxille, is charged with the management and operation of the School City of Shelbyville as a numicipal corporation. The entire responsibility for transforming tax dollars into education for the cityis young people rests upon the board. In addition to these regular duties, our teach- ers give extra time to sponsor student organi- zations. chaperone dances and other activities, direct productions, coaeh athletics, and sup- ervise publications. He has assumed the official duties of the principalship with ease and has headed the school efficiently and with a cheery smile. Nlr. Sharp has taken a big part in activities. He has backed the forming of Future Teach- ers Association, the Student Council, and the Booster Club. Nlr. Emerson H. Bass. assistant principal, is well liked by students and fellow teachers alike. He has particular charge of the junior high school and prepares the students for high school days. In addition, Nlr.
