The next week the Bears defeated a tough Franklin squad. At this point it looked as if Shelby would have a team comparable to last yearis Bruisini Bruins. But inexperience finally told the tale as the Bears went on to lose five of their remaining seven games, finishing fourth in the South Central Conference. This yearis Kiwanis Award winner was Bob Cowherd. The award, based on sportsmanship, scholarship. co- operation, and playing ability, is given each year to the outstanding football player.
