That was the general expression made by most of the freshmen at Central High School. We had taken the big step, we were in high school. After the greenness had worn off, the freshman class began to take part in the school activities. First we had the election of class officers. Jerry Wheeler was chosen as president of the class, Sharon Shelton, vice president, David Segroves, secretary, Betty Lewis, treasurer, and Bettye Saunders, reporter. The freshman representatives to the PTSA are Sandra Locke and Jerry Wheeler. Student Council representatives are Connie Gowen, Carey Gates Thomas, Jerry Wheeler, and Scottie McDonald. Acting as very capable sponsors were Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Bomar, Mrs. Mummert, Mrs. Morton, Mr. Rogers, M. McDaniel, and Mr. Adkins. The first big proiect undertaken by the freshmen was the Harvest Festival. The income of the various games and contests we sponsored totaled 555.110, Not only were our freshmen successful in the money-making projects, but we were successful with our candidates for Harvest Festival-rulers. Connie Gowen and Robert Calahan reigned as queen and prince, respectively. Other freshman candidates were Wayne Bomar, king, and Susan Tilford, princess. The freshman class marched in the homecoming parade, carrying signs and cheering under the direction of the freshman cheerleaders. Also representing the freshmen in the Homecoming Festivities was Carey Gates Thomas, who was an at- tendant to the queen. The freshman class of 1958-59 has experienced a most successful and enioyable first year of high school and is certainly looking forward to their future years. sf 5 r
