I O C I Another school year had almost passed, and the sophomores were looking forward with great anticipation to their junior year. To have a successful year we knew that we must have a good leader and Larry Locke was elected president. Those to assist him were Jerry Looney, vice president, Faye Parsons, secretary, and Emily Sanders, treasurer. August found us back in school and, as September rolled around, our class was already being represented in the various organizations and activities of the school. Candidates for the Harvest Festival honors were Grady Edwards, king, Marie Sharp, queen, Bobby Prince, prince, and Cheryl Copeland, princess. Diana Gowen was the lovely junior attendant to the football queen. Cookie Overcast was one of the two finalists for Miss C. H. S. Marie Young was the other junior representative. Mary Lou Finney and Bill Anderson were elected to represent our class in the PTSA and the Student Council couldn't have done without its junior members, who were Freeda Fly, Faye Parsons, Jerry Looney, and Kenneth Couser. Bill Sanders, the vice president of the Council, was also a jolly junior. Larry Locke served as assistant editor for the AQUILA and Freeda Fly as assistant business manager. Selling homemade candy and cold drinks at the football games was the first money- making project launched by the junior class. The magazine sale was very successful with the total amounting to 52401.49 Gray Hill was the high salesman with Pat Tarpley and Me- linda Morgan placing second and third respectively. Our concessions at the Harvest Festival featured throwing darts and shooting basket- balls. These were very popular attractions, but no one except the bravest souls would dare go through the House of Horrors, which was also sponsored by the juniors. The climax of our year of hard work and fun together was the Junior-Senior Prom, which took place on April 17. Plenty of hard work and planning went into the prom, based on the theme With a Song in my Heart, in order to make it a wonderful occasion. Although the juniors have had a very successful year, none of the achievements would have been possible without the advice, hard work, and encouragement of our sponsors, Mr. Copeland, Mrs. Crockett, Mrs. Gore, Mrs. Hulan, Mr. Leech, and Miss Rogers. lt is due to their interest in us that we finished this year with the feeling that it has been the high- light of our high school endeavors.
