Three girls, with the help of their in- structor, Mr. McBride worked out selec- tions in the interpretive prose and poetry division. They are Cleft to righll Carol Peters, Karen Schutt, Mr. McBride, Lorrie Anderson, Cctrol Hockett, Kcxren Dills, and Lindcx Boeck. Lorrie Anderson received cr I cxt the district contest and lcrter competed ot State where she re- ceived cz II. The play-reading entitled The Outsider was pre- sented cxt the district con- test by Oeft to right! Vir- ginia Chipmdn, Carol Hockett, Pct Messerschmidt, Cynthia Best, cmd Ronda Mcrnz. Their selection re- ceived cx ll. These students had entries in original orcxtory and storytelling. They ore: Sheryl Schnock, Phyllis Barrett, Dctve Iensen, Kerry Kiesel, Dove Schneider Kstandingl Mr. McBride, Bob Iensen, Iim Kroll, Stun Kern, and Mark Dcthl.

s These students competed in the humorous. dramatic, and oratorical division. They are Csecrtedj LaRee Ehlers, Iean Volkens, Linda Stuhr, Virginia Chipman, JoAnn Short. Standing: Sue Kiesel, Iulie Boeck, Pat Dea, Debbie Davis, Bernice Schumacher, Mr. McBride, Linda Stuhr and Virginia Chipman received I's at the district contest and later competed at the state contest where they received Il's. Speech Pictured at right, Pat Dea and Carol Peters who com peted in the American Legion Speech Contest on the Constitution. Pat received second place in the local con test, while Carol took first. Carol then went on to win the county contest, and placed third in the district. During the year, The Blue-Iay Players from the Iowa Western Community College pre- sented the play, The Bald Soprano, They are pictured at left.

Karen Schutt, Peggy Ehlers, Sheryl Schnack, Ian Stortenbecker, Linda Stuhr, Iecm Volkens, Mrs. Moothart, Mr. Moothart, Alan Huneke. STHS had six entries in the 1968 Hawkeye Science Fair in Des Moines. Seven students traveled to Des Moines with Mr. and Mrs. Moot- hart for two days.
