The presentation of the three act comedy Room Trouble was given April 11 under the direction of Mrs Thelma Wellman Peter Haven who shares his room with his brother is determined to get a room of his own before his wealthy chum arrives Peter only suc ceeds in getting his father into business difficulties causes his slsters boy friend to lose his Job and arouses contempt between his brother and his best friend The crash comes but finally all is well and peace again reigns at the Haven household Irving Haven Amella. .. ... CAR NIIVAL Thls year s Annual School Carmval held on November 22 was spon sored by the Student Councll lnstead of the Jumor Class as xn former years Numerous concesslons and eatmg booths together w1th an excellent program made the carmval a huge success A crowd of some 800 people packed the audltorlum and wltnessed a novel program entlt-led The Umted Natlons s RCVIQW 1 There were many tense moments as raffle tickets were drawn and valuable prizes glven to the wmners The chmax of the evemng came with the crowmng of Douglas EI'lCkSOIl and Marjorxe Fleld as Klng and Queen of the Carnlval Sandy Wyns and Shlrley Bablnec acted as crown bearers and Bllly Kxeler and Bllly S1kkenga were tram bearers The elghth grade candldates were Dorls Pederson and Roy Clevenger the mnth grade Beverly Elliott and Stanley Huey the tenth grade Dorothy Henry and Wayne Beachum the eleventh grade Molhe Butler and Bob Sullivan Page Thnty ive

? nl' ni' 1' 6' The Senior class of 1947 is very proud and fortunate to have as one of ltS members the champion pre baker of the United States Marjorie started on the road to fame by wrnnrng a local contest held in school This encouraged her to enter the Oceana County contest held in Ilrrt on February 1 She also took high honors there From there she vsent on to defeat twenty three rivals at Grand Rapids and wrn the state crown The people of Shelby were now behind Margie one hundred per cent The school gaxe her a rousing send-off as she left for Chicago on February P0 to compete for the national crown On Friday February 21 atop the Morrison Hotel Margie lived up to the expectations of the home folks and won the National Cherry Pie-Baking contest She was aw arded 3395 cash and on Saturday February 22 she left for VS ashington D C. She was given a complete sight-seeing tour of the city with all expenses paid and a trip to Mount Vernon. A few weeks later she went to Lansing and baked a pie for the governor.
