The chief goal of the class of 47 has been to produce an annual that will be a credit to the class and to the school. Etta Mae Morrison A UUE AN B UBLE PLA ? nl' ni' 1' 6' The Senior class of 1947 is very proud and fortunate to have as one of ltS members the champion pre baker of the United States Marjorie started on the road to fame by wrnnrng a local contest held in school This encouraged her to enter the Oceana County contest held in Ilrrt on February 1 She also took high honors there From there she vsent on to defeat twenty three rivals at Grand Rapids and wrn the state crown The people of Shelby were now behind Margie one hundred per cent The school gaxe her a rousing send-off as she left for Chicago on February P0 to compete for the national crown On Friday February 21 atop the Morrison Hotel Margie lived up to the expectations of the home folks and won the National Cherry Pie-Baking contest She was aw arded 3395 cash and on Saturday February 22 she left for VS ashington D C. She was given a complete sight-seeing tour of the city with all expenses paid and a trip to Mount Vernon. A few weeks later she went to Lansing and baked a pie for the governor.
