DEDICATION The 1961 Senior Class and SCARLET S staff have chosen to dedicate this edition of the yearbook to, not one, but two deserving members of our faculty. These two teachers have had a great part in making the memories that each senior cmd underclassman will have of his high school days in years to come. It is with great pride and pleasure that we dedicate this, the 1961 SCABLET S, to you-Miss Bay Bowman and Mr. Bill Wilkins. Each fall as the Whippet football team wins another championship, Mr. Wilkins loses a few more hairs. During the 13 years that Mr. Wilkins has served as head football coach, the Whippet gridders have won seven Northern Ohio League championships, more than any other team. Besides his coaching duties, Mr. Wilkins teaches freshmen civics and physical educa- tion. This summer Mr. Wilkins will have the distinction of serving as an assistant coach of the North squad in the annual North-South football game. Miss RAY BOWMAN Although she shares her energy and en- thusiasm with the students and teachers of Shelby High, Miss Bowman always seems to have plenty to spare. After spending a full day instructing World history, Miss Bowman devotes her evenings to helping the cheerleaders and working with the Whippettes, an organization which she organized in 1956. She has also advised the staff of the Whippet Tales since 1954 when the paper was organized in her world history class. 1 6 MR. BILL WILKINS
