Boys third In Central 8 One thing unique about the 1987-1988 boys basketball season was the three-point line. The line was a big factor in comebacks and at the end of close games. This year's season went smoothly, but we were a little disappointed in the way our win-loss record turned out, said Coach Terry Fusco. We were in every game right to the end but we seemed to have trouble in the second and third quarters, letting teams get six or eight points ahead of us. The highlight of fhe season was finishing third in the very tough Central Eight Conference Tournament. Shelby defeated the Osceola Bulldogs to take third. I feel we have a good base to build on, with two returning starters and two part-time players that saw action in critical situations, said Fusco. The Huskies started out by winning the first three games by a large margin, but falling to a rated team, Humphrey High. RIGHT: PASSING- Russ Hopwood prepares to pass the ball. Aquinas were very close games, but the boys pulled them out. Next came the Osceola Bulldogs who took home the win. Fullerton was the next road match; the Huskies defeated them 59- 57. Next came the Conference Tour- nament. In the first round the Huskies played Fullerton again, and again walked away with the victory. Then came the David City Scouts, and we were de- feated. Along came Osceola gain, but this time the Huskies took home the win and third place in the Central Eight Conference Tournament. Next came Genoa and a 55-53 victory. Polk-Hord- ville and David City were different sto- ries though, and the Huskies were de- feated by both. Then came an easy win over Rising City, 70-33. The last home game was with Silver Creek. It was senior night, and Shelby won 83-66. The last game of the season came in the first round of the sub- district. The Huskies ended their season with a 11-7 record. 18
