UowVUnuMq 3b Spirit Week of 1986 started off as the Monday of every week should, with Get up and Go” Day. The rest of the week was filled with students walking the halls in some very unusual outfits. Everyone dressed in their worst as “Bag Lady Day” was observed on Tuesday. On Wednesday a visitor to SHS might think he was at SHS hospi- tal. as everyone was dressing appro- priately for “Bandage Day. In order to get the spirit roaring for the volleyball game that night, Thursday was desig- nated as Extreme Black and Gold Day.” Inside out Grub day was the dress code for Friday as students decorated their floats. The senior members of the football team decided to show the volleyball team a few secret plays Thursday afternoon at the pep rally. The pep rally was highlighted by a cheer which sparked the Homecoming victory over Clarks. The I ady Huskies defeated the Bombers to start the 1986 Homecom- ing victories. Even though the air was damp on Friday, spirits could not be dampened as students prepared for the parade that afternoon. On Friday night, the football team was ready to go as they were faced with the bad weather and their arch-rivals, the Osceola Bulldogs. After a game delay due to bad weath- er. the Huskies pulled out of hard fought victory with a final score of 6-0. During half time, the winners of the parade competition were announced. The third grade won the grade school division, with their saying “The Great- sest Show On Earth-Shelby Huskies. This year’s theme “Sayings” was fur- ther carried out in the junior high and high school divisions. For the first time in 23 years, the seventh grade took first place in the jr. high division with Barking Up the Wrong Tree”. More traditions were broken as the Seniors' float “Life’s a Beach” received top honors in the senior hgih division. The climax of the week was the coronation after the football game. Following the introduction of the royalty, Chad Ab- bott and Stephanie Johannsen were crowned the new 1986 Homecoming King and Queen. Homecoming 1986 proved to be a special one for everyome involved.
