Boys Basketball The Boys Basketball team ended their season with a record of 10-6. The team started out the season with big wins over Silver Creek and Rising City. The team lost to Stromsburg, Palmer, and Hen- derson, the top teams in the state. But the boys knew they “brought out their best“ against some tough competition. Head Coach, Terry Fusco,' aid tnis team played as close to their ability as any team ne has coached. He also added this team played well together and every member, gave unselfishly to a team effort. Some highlights of the season for the team were taking third place in the GRC Tournament, and being tied with Stroms- burg for second place in regular season play. Team members chosen as GRC All-Con- ference were Randy Grossnicklaus, second team; and Mike O'Brien, honorable men- tion. Grossnicklaus was also chosen to play on the GRC tournament team, and the Co- lumbus Telegram's All-Star team. Head Coach Mr. Fusco was assisted by Mr. Schnoes, and student managers; Shane Kuhnel, Steve Fusco, Jeff Bilstein, and Shane Smith. Girls are runners-up in districts The girls '83-84 basketball team ended with a record of 11-6. The girls really brought out their best, and played some really good and competitive basketball games. The team started the season with a loss to Stroms- burg, but the girls really worked hard for the next game and they beat Rising City by a big margin. The girls took second place in the Goldenrod Con- ference Tournament. They beat St. Edward and Clarks, and lost to Fullerton in the finals. Chosen for the Goldenrod All-Conference team were first Teresa O'Brien, and Kim Scow honorable mention. The girls were runners up in the district tournament The Yardstick Seven-Mile Inn 30 Pioneer Plaza Rt. 2 Columbus, NE 68601 Columbus, NE 68662 where they beat Osceola the first round and lost to Henderson in the finals in a very close game. During the season Teresa O'Brien broke two school records by scoring 31 points against Palmer, and pull- ing down 28 rebounds against Rising City. Chosen for the Conference All-Star game were La- Dena Thelen, Teresa O'Brien, and Kim Scow. O'Brien and Scow were also chosen for the Columbus Tele- gram's All-Star team.
