Below the Royalty is the 1983 Royalty Float. Huskies enjoy homecoming Victory This year the students and staff “brought out their best for another successful Homecoming. Beginning on Monday the 19th of September, Homecoming was started with baby day. Following that was Hawaiian day, Punk rock day, formal day, and finally grub day. Eighth grader, Rjck Luchsinger, went all out and got a Mohawk for punk rock day. Homecoming day, Friday the 23rd, was a rather nice day except for the wind which made the floats tougher to put together and stay together. Float building, under the theme Video Games, was start- ed at 8:30 a.m. and was to be done before the judges came at noon. At 1:30 the traditional Homecoming parade was under way through the main street of Shelby. Some of the highlights of the parade were the pep rally with the cheerleaders performing routines and a spirit boosting skit. The band played the school song and other spirit lifting tunes. The time everyone had been waiting for all week had finally come. Through decorating the school, dressing up for Spirit week, getting dates, and building floats, everyone was ready for the big football game with Howells. The Shelby fans came ready to cheer the foot- ball team to a victory. The football team was not about to let them down, and so they defeated Howells 28-18 for another Homecoming victory. During halftime at the football game, Spirit week winners were announced as well as the winners of the float building competition. In the junior high, the winners were the eighth graders with Pit- fall and the seventh graders were the runners up with Bugertime. In the high school competition the freshman won first place with Q-Bert , the juniors had the Royalty Float and took second place. Shelby Fertilizer, Feed, Seed Co. 8 Shelby, Ne 68662 Golden West Feed Yards Inc. Shelby, NE 68662 The sophomores picked Donkey Kong and the seniors chose Eyes for their theme.
