I 1983 A New Shelby h 1 Husky Experience iigh School A New Experience was chosen as the theme for the 1983 Husky by the annual staff. We had a difficult time choosing a theme for this book. We really wanted something that, as Mr. Power would say, hold our book together. We decided upon this theme because of all the new experiences we have been fortunate enough to participate in. The 1982-83 school year found us leaving the old Crossroads Conference and entering the new Goldenrod Conference. It also saw us moving up from Class “D” to Class “C”. New teachers, new students and new styles seem to truly say that 1983 would be a “New Experience”. Our year- book staff hopes everyone enjoyed their ’82-83 school year and best of luck to all in the years to come. Winning Season The Huskies opened the season with a win over the Genoa Orioles. However, the next three games provided tough competition and the Huskies were unable to capture a victory. The three losses were to Henderson, Stromsburg, and Howells respectively. Then the tide turned and the Huskies proved to be victorious over Osceola, Fullerton, and Dorchester. This now made the season a 4-3 record and the Huskies now looked to a possible winning season. The Huskies next game was a hard fought battle against Humphrey St. Francis, but despite the efforts the record fell to 4-4. The Huskies final game was with Bassett, who was defeated which gave the Huskies a winning season with a 5-4 record. Darin Moon making a tackle. Husky defense making a stop. Who’s going to get it?
