-vT v The Shelby football squad started out their victorious season with a stumbling loss to Rising City in double overtime. From that point on, Shelby stiffened and upset Humphrey (not beaten in three years) in a thrill- ing overtime. With confidence, Shelby then tallied up seven more wins to get a state playoff berth. Shelby first went to the grid to upturn Stapleton 54-0. Then, win- ning a home field advantage, they smashed Adams in the semi-finals 72-18. With the trophy now glowing in their eyes, Shelby pulled off their first Nebraska State Championship in D-1 Eight Man football by defeating Lawrence 36-31. Next year, our victorious Huskies will go into the Goldenrod Conference playing Eleven C-2 football. Way to go Defense! Nice catch, Randy!
