Homecoming 1971 The Nebraska weather was against us as usual, when the Homecoming Football game was post- poned because of snow. Luckily, the coronation festivities came off on schedule. The gym was beauti- fully decorated by the Junior girls and the facul- ty, with the theme, Young and Free. Mr. Weinstein, Cherie Buch- holz, and Mike Hatt pro- vided the music, with Master of cermonies Van Grossnicklaus announcing the program. This year's Homecom- ing was in honor of past Homecoming Queens. Mrs. Joann Furber was presented a corsage by her son, S-Club represen- tative, Rob Glatter, for being Shelby's first home- coming Queen. At the end of the coro- nation program there was a short dance for the can- didates, and then the announcing of the 1970-71 Royalty - Judy Hernbloom and Bob Smith, crowned by last years King and Queen - Murray Smith and Helen Hohndorf Smith. Other candidates were; 1st runners-up, Becky Nekl and Blake Matousek. 2nd runners-up, Sandy Rosenberry and Steve Hop- wood, 3rd runners-up, Judy Vrbka and Bob Buch- holz. Crown bearers chosen were Milissa Clark and Rory Rathje. After the coronation, was the Pep Rally. Every- one helped the Cheerlead- ers and Pep Club and the band raise spirit for the Homecoming game with Hampton, which The undefeated Shelby team bombed that next Tues- day, 55-16.
