THE HU This, the year of 1956 brought consolidation of rural schools with the Shelby Public School. Eight full rural districts con- solidated with Shelby during the summer of 1955« With the increase in enrollment thus made,three rural school build- ings were moved up on the school grounds to provide room for the ex- pansion. 1

f Superintendent And Principal Wm. T. Classen, Superintendent of Shelby Schools, this year, received his B.A.degree from Hastings College and his M.A. degree from the Univer- sity of Nebraska. Mr. Classen now has eighteen hours toward a more ad- vanced degree. His previous experiences include: ten years of rural and elementary teaching in Adams and Clay counties, four years as principal and coach, and as superintendent and coach at Holstein, and five years as superin- tendent at Clay Center. Social studies is the subject taught by Mr. Classen. Strong dis- plinary control is favored by this intellegent administrator. Superintendent Classen is married and is the father of three children, two girls and one boy. He is a member of the Lutheran Church and is an active participant in all church functions. Principal Robert Colling holds a B. A. degree, which he received from Hastings College. Two years at McCook Junior Col- lege, one year at Colorado A M College in Port Collins, Colorado, and two years at Hastings College compose his educational background. Principal Colling is t he athletic coach as well as t he mathematics in- structor. Much has been added to the school spirit during his stay here. He is married and has two child- ren, Mary and Dick.
