Cheerleaders- Sue Doty, Nellie Cox, Taddiken. -----------, Joyce Scow, , Braithwait, Janet Knight, Karen Thelen, Marge Ingalls, Kay Loy The Pt., Club Story The initial purpose of the Shelby Pep Club is to cheer the Shelby Huskie's football, basketball, and track teams to victory. it is, as well, an organization that raises money for progressive activities such as the Athletic Banquet. One of the goals which the Club accomplished this year was the collecting of Folger's Coffee key strips for a coffee urn that is used to serve coffee at all the football and basketball games. At the first of the year a club sponsor was elected by the Pep Club members. Miss Gladys Hartwell was voted as the sponsor for the year. The Club enrollment for 1956 was twenty-nine girls. Homecoming Large Crowd Attends Homecoming Festivities For the third year Home- coming was celebrated in conjunction with Shelby Corn Day.The day was high- lighted with a parade in the afternoon,concessions, competitive games, a foot- ball game that night, a Square Dance on Main Street and a Modern Dance at the Parish Hall A crowd of 1,500, the largest ever to attend, watched the parade. A crowd of 1,500, the largest ever to attend, watched the parade. It consisted of floats, horse back riders, and children in costume aid on deoorated bicycles. The float theme this year was song titles. Several rural schools en- tered floats in the parade. Between halves of the football game that night JuLee Albers was crowned 55 Grid Queen. Her at- tendants were Marge DtgaUs, Kay Loy Taddiken, Janet Kuhnel, Sharon Coffin, and Ann Kosch. She rode on to the field in a convertible after which the Pep Club formed a S and a M and gave yells for both sides. She was crowned by Myron Heimer and PeeWee Reisdorff, the captains of the game• The money for parade prizes was contributed by the businessmen for the floats.
