As the guiding hand and the governing body, the Board of Education controls the Shelby school system. The Board holds meetings on the first Monday of every month. Special meetings are frequently called to decide special issues. BOARD OF EDUCATION As Superintendent of Schools, D. J. Armstrong is faced with the prob- lem of making decisions viilch vitally affect the school. Mr. Armstrong has taught in the Fallons and Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska schools, as well as the State Reformatory in Lincolrv Nebraska. Mr. Armstrong has acted as the President of the Little Six Confer- ence for the last two years. He is a Mason and a member of the Lion's Club. A disengaging smile and a pleas- ing personality introduces ft’incipal Art Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson, who is new in the Shelby schools, is also Coach of all athletics. He taught in the grades in Bene- dict for the past four years. Mr. Ferguson is married and has three children. 4
