HIGH-LIGHTS OF THE GRADE SCHOOL YEAR The Christmas play, Santa's Toy Shop, will possibly always be remembered by the kinder garten children. Songs, rhthmic actions, and play acting in costumes was thoroughly enjoyed by them when they gave the play, once for their Mothers, and again for the first and second graders. The play was centered around Santa, who tried out all the toys to see if they worked. The animal proJectwhich was carried on in the first and second grade room was probably the most enjoyable event of the year in that room. A clay project on beavers was made and the sandbox in their room displayed the animals that hi- bernate in the winter. Live specimens of snail, fish, tad- poles, and turtles were also displayed. The making of paper mache' animals high-lighted the year in the third and fourth grade room. Rach pupil made the an- imal of his choice and then painted it with his choice of colors. The unit on the Days of Chivalry was an enjoyable ac- tivity in the fifth and sixth grade room this year. Drawings of castles were made, and a castle was constructed from boxes. A field trip to museums in Lincoln high-lighted the yesr for the seventh and eighth grades. The grades went to Lincoln by bus, and while there visited the State Capitol, His- torical Museum, and the State Historical Society. 15
