FROM SMALL BEGINNINGS GREW THE SENIORS CLASS HISTORY During the fall of '$leLght freshmen, three boys and five girls, started their four years of study in Shelby High. Coming from rural schools were the other six freshmen: Barbara Coffin from District Number 1; Donna Jean Eller,52; Norman Gabel, 15; Eugene Bern II4.; Gerald Hopwood and Audrey Kallenbach from District 67. At the beginning of the Soph- omore year, Gary Bemis, from Rising City High School, .loined the class, and at the beginning of the junior year, Eileen Lin- ton, from Gresham High School, came to Shelby. Since both girls from the Shelby Elementary School,Marian Ransom and Betsy Reeder, left Shelby in their junior year, this is probably the first class to be graduated from Shelby Hl£i without any students from the Shelby district itself. 8
