Dedication We, the Senior Class of 'Sk-, wish to dedicate this annual to our parents, who through their unfail- ing help and co-operation have made it possible for us to attain this goal, our '54 annual, which we have all strived for during the past year. SHELBY HIGH SCHOOL SHELBY, NEBRASKA ANNUAL STAFF Editor---Jim Hastert Assistant Editor—Donna Tomasevicz Business Managers---Jerome Reisdorff---Betty Lees Art Editor---Dwayne Harms Others taking part to make this annual a success were: Beverly Rosenberry, JoAnn Jostes, Curt Johansen, Frank Feeser, Ronald Smith, Larry Hasselbalch, Harley Hecker, and Margie Scholz. 1 The School Building is the background for all the scenes of High School life. Studying in the classroom or chatting in the halls, the School observes the development of our personality and character and it watches us absorb the knowledge of the past and, perhaps, add something worthwhile for posterity. When we recollect our happy carefree days, and our serious, thoughtful moments, a vision of the old red brick School buixding will return to us, to hover in the background of our memories. Board of Education Seated: A. M. Pokorney, President; Roland White, Secretary; Bernard Matticks, Vice-President. Standing: John Krumbach, Wilhelm Kosch, Louis Hastert, Treasurer. 2 SUPERINTENDENT ARMSTRONG The man most respon- sible for our wonderful, happy years in Shelby High School is Superin- tendent Armstrong. His untiring efforts to make Shelby High School strong Scholastically and a vital link in the chain of in- dividual growth are ap- preciated and will long be remembered. Donna Tomasevlcz, Beverly Rosenberry, JoAnn Jostes, Larry Hasselbalch, and Jim Hastert. We lost Beverly Rosenberry in our second year, she left to enter District 1$. JoAnn Jostes left in her seventh grade year. Donna Tomasevlcz, Larry Hasselbalch and Jim Hastert were the only three to go completely through all their school years together. We were joined in our fourth grade year by Dwayne Harms from California, and Sharon Knight from Evanston, Wyoming. Curt Johansen joined in his fifth grade year from District 14 and Beverly Rosenberry rejoined us in her eighth grade from District 1$. As we registered in our Freshman year in High School, Betty Lees from District 22, Margie Scholz from District $2, Jerome Reisdorff from District 21, Ronald Smith from District 1 and Frank Feeser from District 67 entered with the original group. JoAnn Jostes joined us again in her Sophomore year, and Harley Hecker came to Shelby High in his Junior year from Shelton, Nebraska. Sharon Knight dropped out the first semester of our Senior year, leaving to graduate-13. 8 Jerome Margie Beverly Harley Larry Dwayne Jim Betty Donna Ronald Frank iyr t Wee Mrs” Donna Eller and Barbare Coffin Audrey Kallenbach and Eileen Linton The Class of 55 pictured here, has been one of the smallest class- es Shelby High School has ever housed. Small but Mighty might be a fitting caption for the Juniors. Their play this school- year, Look Out Lizzie , drew one of the largest play crowds Shelby High School has ever seen and was a tremendous success. The play was in conjunction with the School Open-House.
