Boys Basketball Plavmg the heavxest schedule that a team of S H S has ex er plaxed the 1928 29 aggregatlon broke even on the schedule of tuentw games elght of vshlch were tournament games Out of the regular season of tw elve games the Shelbv qulnt lost SIX Onlx three of these defeats came from teams 1n thxs XlCll1lfX Conrad Cut Bank and Brovn nlng Choteau Whxtef1sh and Havre lnflxcted defeats upon Shelby but not wlthout a flght Onlv two games were lost on the home floor those with Wh1t6f1Sh and Choteau We had the pleasure of defeat1ng our old ru als Conrad in two out of three games We won two out of three from Cut Bank broke even wlth Browning ln two games but we cleaned the board vuth Sv. eet Grass w1nn1ng three out of three VVe also defeated Valler ln both of our encounters wlth them The Sub Dlstrlct tournament was held IH Shelbv on Februars 4 8 and 9 Shelby won all four games ln the tournament bx large ma1or1txes defeatmg Sweet Grass Conrad Cut Bank and Valler to vxln the shield symboll of flrst place Kelth Simon local forward won the hlgh pomt trophv to the Dlstrlct tournament There we ran up agalnst four large aggregatlons from large schools and conslstmg of old experlenced plavers for the most part We lost all four games of the tournament and took last place The flrst three 8311195 Were heart breakers for Shelbv was In the lead 1n all of them at half tlme only to drop behlnd and go down fightmg IH the latter sessxons All ln all however lt was a successful season both financially and morally The team was a good winner and better st1ll a good loser 16' l fe at ,I Fourteen 7 By winning the Sub-District tournament, Shelby won the right to go to Havre fl - ' -,A as g if if
