Ten Years Hence After w1nn1ng a small fortune wh1le play1ng an IHDOCSHI game of roulette I declded to travel Wh1le on thls tr1p I met some of our old classmates and I would llke to tell you how I found them Ifound that Carol Dodd has a governrnent Job and IS workmg hard for her Nat1on I saw Beverly Bratcher as Dean of Women at Vassar a famous eastern school There too were Joyce Klng and Martha I-Ia1-r1son teach1ng Mary Ellen Wood 1n true l1ne wxth her school days was found to be phystcal educa t1on teacher back at Shelb1na H1gh School I then saw Dean F1tzpatr1ck as one of the lead1ng attorneys 1n the metropol1s f Lentner the same old look of w1sdom beam1ng from h1s eyes Whlle IH Shelb1na I drove by our old h1gh school and whom do you th1nk I saw 'P Yes It was Howard Brengle ass1stant custod1an Iasked about our fr1end Donald Yost I learned that he 1S rap1dly gammg recogn1t1on wlth h1s new dlscovery of makmg a potato v1ne produce crab apples To my sorrow I learned that Tom Crawford IS 1n a hosp1tal 1n Par1s France w1th a LeFever Also abroad IS Marlon DeMoss Betty Stalcup and R1cky Clapper Mar1on IS now a famous track star and IS 1n Swttzerland for the Olymp1cs Betty IS workmg at her most 1I1t6I'6St1I'1gJ0b as an archeologlst R1Cky It seems IS an ex sa1lor who got marooned on a sand bar 111 Arab1a and IS now 1n charge of a harem When Idrove by to See Mar1lyn Slocum M1lner thtngs were 1n such confus1on klds yell1ng someth1ng burn1ng and Melv1n hurry1ng her to come and dr1ve the tractor that Idec1ded to move along I stopped by to see Norma Mull who IS on the farm st1l1 regrettmg the outcome of her h1gh school romances After I got back to town I Saw our fr1end Patsy 5111165 go1ng 1nto Kroger s She had just dr1ven up 1n a gray 1962 Plymouth In Kroger s I saw W1lma Joyce Wood at the cash reg1ster st1ll makmg the Sparks Iasked about Merr1tt Trantor and I was told that he 1S now a keeper of a morgue 1n Hlldmann France Wh1le passlng through Hannlbal a poster caught my eye It sald K1ller Coffman wrestl1ng here tonlght Much to my surpr1se I saw Carl Studer h1s manager standmg near by I stopped at a place called Joe s for d1nner There I found D1ck N1chols beatmg out St Louls Blues on a p1ano On my way back to Shelb1na I stopped at Hunnewell for gas and at whose SIBIIOH do you thmk I stopped 'P The owner and propr1etor was Charles Moores lvluch to my dellght he told me that Ed1th Ralls was h1s secretary and cashxer He told me that Helen Monte1th IS 1n Dallas Texas and a real P1ed Plper as far as boys are concerned Havmg seen or heard from most of our classmates I dec1ded to start north and take m the Memorlal Day speed race at Ind1anapol1s There I found Donn1e Klng 1n h1s mxdget racer m1les out L11 front In the wmner s c1rcle was the red headed mov1e star Polly Must1on wa1t1no to glve the wmner h1S k1ss As Donn1e came 1n I saw someone run out on the track It was Glenon R1doway a member of Donn1e s p1t crew In the same c1ty I found Ke1th Carlson ltvmg up to h1s motto Next to bemg young and pretty the next best bet IS to be old and rtch Also 1n Ind1anapol1s I saw Norma Revercomb dr1x1ng a bm Hudson A few mmutes later I saw her m a Sllll buwer Cadlllac then I happened to look up and see a s1gn w h1ch 1 . 1 ' I . said Revercomb s Parking Lot Norma told me that Charles Crawford IS now the owner of a big chain of drug stores and is considered the best catch in town by the bachelor girls She also told me that Frank Grant IS now a coach at Notre Dame It was night when I reached Philadelphia and I stopped at the BenJam1n Franklin Hotel I was waiting for the bell boy when I thought I heard a fam1l1ar voice I turned and sitting at the switchboard was Barbara Hubble As soon as I got settled in my room Iturned on my radio and another familiar voice reached my ears It was Bill Tex COORIC Greening who was a guest star on Grand Ole Opry I left my radio on and much to my surprise the voice of Willard Reynolds with his news flashes came on Good old Easy Easdale was running for President on the Republican ticket lVly next stop was Washington D C I looked up Kathleen Carlson and Marianne Ke1th who I was told are working for the F B I Marianne told me that before long she would replace J Edgar Hoover Kathleen also Games fame in the field They told me that Sonya Dingle was in New York trying to convince the publlc that bird dogs make finer pets than poodles I heard that Cloyce Baldwin was in Boston so I had to look him up He told me that he was head tea inspector for Four Roses Tea Company There was one member of the class Icould not trace and that was Pat Lorentz Rumors are that she is a confirmed old maid in Germany still taking music lessons Merritt Trantor Helen Monteith Keith Carlson Pat Lorentz .
