For every home game the Band always made the letters for the opposing team and performed various other stunts at half-time Every fall for the past four years the band has sponsored llomecomin Day and the bl dance that night Of course we had to supervise the election of the queen an her attendants he re- sult was that three very pretty girls Patty Erickson queen and Barham Sadler and Madeline Slater as attendants were chosen by the students The parade consisting of the floats from each homeroom was led by the High School Band The winners of the contest were the Sophomores who had a very patriotic float depictin the Spint of 76 At half-time to the music of Onward Sheffield the band began our marc down the field Our first fomiation was a W for Warren then coming across the field we made an S Following this came P. E ' for our queen To the tune of 'lf I Knew You Were Comm , l'd A Baked A Cake a huge cake with four candles, re- presenting the fourth Annual Homecoming, was made in the middle of the field Another very clever formation was a lar e revolving wheel. Halloween ni t found e band members all masked and Hraring to go. Minus a few squeaks here and there ltoo dark to read musicl everyone had a hilarious time. At the time this was written, a Spring Concert by the band and choir combined was being planned. 30 MIXED CHUIH rv' A-L 1 if TJ' f' 5' heated L to R J Labesky P Weidner ,I Edwards C Cummings P Rltchre B Stover Standmg Furs: Row S OLeary H Schmldlen P Irwm B Sadler M Slater H McEIhatten J Saxton S Slater N Jones C Goldthwarte L Wn t Second Row S Cam bell S Farr G Rice L Chamberlam H Weldner ,I Wilson J Bross P Martin B Dalton Thzrd Row Babb C Newman B Hedman A Baynes ,I Vin cent J Hedman M Anderson D Gustafson R Kasaback R Wenker Many a time this past year the students of S H S have heard the voices ofthe angelic choir members floatmg throu h the school Of course they sounded much better when they were blended together under Mr Wn t s direction As soon as footbal season was over the choir began to work diligently for their Chnstmas program The Chnstmas Music Festival was held on Wednesday December 19 lt consisted mam ly of Fred Waring arran ements of well known Christmas songs The following Wann numbers were sung Winter Won erland A Musical Christmas Card The First Chnstmas and the old favorite Twas The Night Before Chnstmas The audience contributed their share of en tertaxnment by sin ing Chnstmas carols A beautiful cantata The Wondrous Story by H R Perry was the fina rendition by the cholr In January the choir received an invitation from the Boy Scout Council to appear at the Boy Scout Banquet in Warren on January 30 A nicely vaned program was presented at the banquet They sang Winter Wonderland and Give Me Your Tired Your Poor This song is the 1n- scnption at the base of the Statue of Liberty and is from the musacal Miss Llberty ' Their last number a s are dance Country Style set every one s foot a ta pin When District OCCDSICB rolled around this year we found the entire c oir competing.
