They worked long and hard, and did excellent work on the football field, working out numerous formations. On October 8 the band sponsored the annual Homecoming celebration and on November 23, a dance for the entire school. Especially enjoyed by all, at this latter event, was the floor show of SHS talent. The band played the first half of the spring concert on April 28. The organization has been very busy this year under the direction of Wir. Wright, Ylary Slater and her advisory board, llike Benson, Sally 0'Leary, and Teresa Slater. The mixed Chorus was inactive until Christmas, at which time they presented the annual Christmas Carol Festival. The first part of this program consisted of Christmas carols and anthems, with solos by Dick Moldovan and Barbara Sadler, and a duet by Teresa Slater and ,lim 0'Donnell. Next, but not least, the members of the chorus presented a very beautiful pageant about the birth of Christ. Helen Peterson was the beautiful and angelic Yladonna, and Chuck Williamson the loving and protective Joseph. The 'Nlixed Chorus favored the public with an annual spring concert on April 28. For the last half of the joint con- cert with the band, the Mixed Chorus presented a minstrel show with members of the chorus as interlocutor, end men, and soloists. The re- mainder of the chorus furnished the background music.

A practice recently resumed in our school is that of entering forensic music competition. Sheffield lligh School students traveled to Clarion where we had fifteen entries in the district competition on Nlarch 31. Those who were successful in Clarion went to Pittsburgh Weidner, P. Qlater, 5. glater, B. Irwin for the state finals, 7Vlay 5, 6, and 7. Something new in the line of music here is radio. Many of the musicians from Sheffield High made their debuts on radio this spring at WNAE in Warren. Best of luck to those yonmg musicians!
