William E. Mielke Guidance Director Polly Hall Principal ' s Sec. Mary Wallace Supt. Sec. Fernand Barrette Music Director Fort Lee, Virginia Sheffield, Massachusetts Dear Class of 1955: Even though you are many miles and nearly a year away, thoughts of my adopted Berkshire home seem to diminish both time and distance. Why do I say adopted home? Among the reasons is that you, the Class of 1955, helped to make it my home. With wholehearted sincerity I feel the three years of being your advisor, teacher and friend were the fullest, and the most gratifying I have known. When you have left Sheffield High School as alumni, and alumnae you are to become citizens of your community. There are a few simple and basic things to remember. Always strive to do your best. Always be yourself; do your own reasoning, being ready to lead or follow as the situation demands. Remember, always live by the Golden Rule which is so essential to our democratic life. Above all, remember Him that enables us to have this education, this nation, and our free way of life. In closing I send you heartfelt wishes that you will achieve success in your endeavors, happiness in life, and have pleasant memories of your years as students in Sheffield High School. I also want to thank you for the honor of a place in this, your yearbook. f Sincerely yours, Thomas K. Norton, Jr.
