CLASS PROPHECY The twentieth annual reunion of the class of '56 was held at the Catherine Thomas residence. Katie remained in Sheffield and is editor of the daily Who Said lt. Katie getsher news from tapping all telephone conver- sations. Her publication, Katie says, would be much more interesting if she'd dare print all that she hears. Lela Standard was unable to be with us since she was touring Europe after being crowned 'Miss Universe. Lela won the honor by illustrating the famous Marilyn Monroe Strut. She acquired this talent from her experi- ence as a model for the famous fashion designer Dior. William Fisher, now President of the Studebaker- Packard Corporation, arrived with his wife, the former Gwen Christensen, in his newly designed Flying Eagle. I say it really must have flown sincehe made it from his headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana in one hour flat, and believe it or not, he made it around all the curves! Marilyn Kaufman drove down from Peoria, where she is captain of her own lady police force. When Marilyn was asked what she does in her many emergencies, she replied that whenever she has to handle a toughie, she pulls out her Pop-Eye Brand spinach and lowers the boom. Roger Folk brought his band of renown, The Pokis Folkies along to the big affair. They provided some very danceable music for Roger's old classmates, that is if you like the Pokie Folkie. Roger invented the new dance step himself. l-le even has his own Pokie Folkie dancing class. The way everybody is taking to it, it might well be said it is replacing the jitter-bug. Kay Johnson arrived in a stately limousine, fresh from her appointment as Interior Decorator for the new estate being erected by John D. Rochefeller, Jr. While here, Kay announced her engagement to the Prince of Monaco, who has divorced Grace Kelly, because she hasn't Kay's beautiful brown eyes. Paul Griffin stopped in on a return trip from the Moon. The rocket he was in, Paul designed himself. The sad part of the story is Paul forgot to cut rockers when he was landingand the ship dived into the earth. Poor old Paul had to climb all the way up the side to find an exit, but eventually he made it. Saundra Wickham flew in from San Diego, with her six bouncing little sailors. She had to leave her big sailor behind, since he was due in Hawaii. Sonnie seemed to have no trouble with her little demons and credits it toher past experience as kindergarten teacher in San Diego before her marriage to Admiral D. L. Gradert. Phil Cunningham bounced in ona faithful old burrow, straight from the hills of Kentucky. When asked what he was trying to accomplish down there, Phil said he was still trying to break Rip Van Winkle's record of sleeping 100 years. He should be in very good shape after all the practice he had in Physics class. As was reported last year at the reunion of the class of '55, Gladys Barton still reigns as queen of the Island of Suzy-loo, and Kenny Riggs is still King of the Bar- tonian tribe. The king and queen are about to ask the President ofthe United States if Suzy- loo might not be- come a state since their Bartonian tribe has reached a grand total of 20,000. Queen Gladys flew in for the occasion. Janice Miller, now President of the Gamblers' Na- tional Bank in Las Vegas, drove back home in a gold- plated Thunderbird. The other executives of the bank unanimously decided upon Janice as President when they learned ofher past position as treasurer of her Jun- ior and Senior classes. Ann' Nelle Schwind is now touring the country with her championshipgirls basketball team. Ann Nelle says the secret of her coaching success has its begimiing way back when Miss Williams taught her zone defense in P.E. class. The one exception is that Ann Nelle's group has mastered the art, whereas Miss Williams' group never did. As you all know the wor1d's new middle weight champ is Mighty Muscles Moore, who flew in after his championship bout inMadison Square Gardens. Muscles said he developed his masculine strength way back when he was a Senior in good old Sheffield High, carrying Lela's books to and from classes. Karen Drew, who just won her first Oscar for her hilarious performance in The Seven Year Giggles , was unable to attend our reunion. Karen played opposite Rock Hudson in her prize-winning roll, and ever since then, she hasn't been the same. lt still isn't known whether her condition is a result of the giggles or of playing opposite Rock Hudson. Dr. William McKee joumeved all the way from Australia where ne has established his own kangaroo clinic. Dr. McKee also has his own kangaroo farm. It is his ultimate goal to raisea breed of tame and stream- lined kangaroo so as to encourage kangaroo racing. Dr, says the horses have had it long enough and it's time for a change. Anyone fora bouncy ride on a kangaroo? ?? Catherine Ray stopped in just long enough to say Hello and to pass out samples of Ray's Reducing Rye ,her sensational new diet bread. Kittie is the head of a large reducing salon and also has her own Rock'n Roll reducing class. Kittie came up from Tampa, Florida where she enjoys being a career woman just fine. The Party lasted until it just couldn't last any longer, and every one departed for his respective spot on the globe. This Page Sponsored By: C, M. BERFIELD, M. D.. sheffield
