Smiling and ready to lead the band in parades are Kay Compton, Linda Bram- mer, Trudy Rumburg, head majoretteg Ruth Pearman, and Charlotte Sisson. 45 Kim Maxey, Judy Kemp, Joe Sisson. THIRD ROW: Jim- my Hubbard, David Chumbley, Reggie Rumburg, David Sisson, Randy Willis, David Webster, Leon Haley, Bobby Wells, Kenny Wright, Wesley Basham, Mark Wickham, Mike Sowder, Charles Sisson, Robert Booth, Kenneth Durham. The Shawnee Band, under the direction of Mr. William P. Carr, spent a successful year of musical presentations. Marching and preparing for Christmas parades was the band's main occupation in the fall. The band members were rewarded for their ef- forts by winning second place in the Chris- tiansburg Christmas parade. Spring of the year found the band mem- bers preparing for the band festival , a spring concert, and the Dogwood Parade in Vinton.

Our newspaper gained new ideas this year, including the name TRIBE TALK, a student-of- the-month section, and more interesting articles. SECOND ROW: 46 The purpose of the safety patrol is to pro- mote saiiety on school buses and in the school buildings. Members help to insure the safe- ty of students by stop- ping traffic when they are crossing the road.
