Shawnee Chiefs .b.h..' MR. DAVID P. ROBINETTE Principal B.S., VPIg M.Ed., VPI. MISS GERALDINE HALL Secretary Leod Members of the Tribe America was discovered by a man trying to find a better way to go places. American education has been trying to do that ever since. Everyone who completes the require- ments for high school graduation cannot be called educated. Whom, then do Icall educated? First, those who manage well the circumstances which they encounter day by day, and those who possess a judgment which is accurate in meeting occasions as they arise and rarely misses the expedient course of action. Next, those who are honorable in their dealings with all men, bearing easily what is unpleasant or offensive in others, and being as reasonable to their associates as it is humanly possible. Furthermore, those who hold their pleasures always under control, and are notunduly overcome by their misfortunes, bearing up under them bravely and in a manner worthy of our common nature. Most important of all, those who are not spoiled by their successes, who do not desert their true selves, but hold their ground steadfastly as wise and sober- mindedmen, rejoicing no more in the good things that have come to them through chance than in those which through their own nature and intelligence are theirs since birth. Those who have a character which in accord, not with me of these things, but with all of them, these are educated. To those of you graduating this year, I wish to remind you that education and life go hand in hand. Education does not end at 3 P.M. each afternoon, it does not end in the spring, it does not end. . . until you do. David P. Robinette
