JP rouinciai Examination The results in the departmental examinations for grades 11 and 12 were again very encouraging. Two facts of importance stand out: First, Pentland won a $500 scholarship to U.B.C. by having the highest average in school districts 62 to 74 and 79 in these examinations. In fact, his average was 91.8% and was the fourth highest in the entire province. Second, there was an unusually high proportion of high marks on these papers: indeed, of the twelve boys in grade 12a, seven of them had overall averages over 80% — Pentland, Reid, Housser, P. Brierley, K. Anderson, Murdoch and Burrows. Altogether there were forty-five papers over 80%.
