id Two sophomore English students have varying success in Writing an in-depth theme on a boring magazine article. Lori Rinehart opens a Christmas card, antici- pating greetings from a boyfriend instead of those from her English teacher. a comma. . .a clause. . . English, C'in 0 glishl, for sophomores, involved studying the basics of our language. A big variety of topics opened up to us as We worked in small groups within the classroom. Poetry writing, novel reading and advertizing analyzation included a few of the more intriguing topics, While theme Writing seemed a chore. Our crowded Classrooms made the hour very hectic for students and teachers alike. A month long mini course taught by a different instructor provided us with a unique change of pace from the regular schedule. we renew Our grammar. ., . v I, ,,, ' - 4.11 Kim Henry and Shelly Moe patiently follow along as Kim Rippetoe reads her interpreta- tion of Shakespeare's Hamlet. West's school newspaper, the Epic, brightened up fourth hour classes twice a month. Our Epic Staff consisted of 20 persons, each one belonging to a certain staff. The entertaining articles varied from present day problems to just for fun stories. The art work displayed in our Epic kept students well informed on the latest styles of drawing. Through working on the Epic, our artistic and literary talents developed. The weekly deadlines and the pressure to meet them as we sought to print a good newspaper made us appreciate our sponsor, Mr. Aiman, who helped us along the way. we share school news. Epic-'71
