We put a great deal of time and energy into the organization and publication of Out of Hand. This year We used a more open and flexible format. We requested students to contribute drawings with their own styles and techniques along with stories and opinions. Like years in the past, lack of student contributions became a hindrance to the outcome of the paper. Putting the magazine all together for publication involved many staff meetings as well as long hours of individual time. Our sponsors, Mr. Dakotas and Mr. Wilson, showed great interest in our Work. A concert by Chimera, a band of several of our members, served as a moneymaking project, brought a good response. we do it our own way. We gathered in the auditorium once every nine weeks to choose the English electives that best suited our own individual needs. We chose from different topics, in- cluding electives in foreign literature, great author appreciation, creative writing, and many, many others. Special skills electives involved courses like Curve Raisers, Developmental Reading, and General English for those of us who wanted a balanced English background. Responsibility rested on us to plan our year wisely and take the easier, along with the more difficult classes. The wide range of topics gave us the opportunity to broaden and develop our interests as we progressed in the class.
