Most of these had been selected by their teachers for outstanding work in their particular area, with some honorees receiving awards in more than one activity. An unusual honor was that received by Sonia Nazario who was awarded a scholarship to attend summer school at Blair School for Journalism in New Jersey. Students accepted for travel to foreign countries under the American Field Service program were Stacey Shinkle, who will spend a full school year away, and Jim Hoggatt, who will spend the summer in Brazil. In the Youth for Understanding program, Kathy Duggins was accepted for a summer's stay in Germany, and
