The overwhelming task of satisfying the needs and desires of the whole Shawnee Mission District fell on the shoulders of the Board of Education aided by Dr. Ball. Making decisions which would improve the educational quality of the district was their premier iob. Dr. Ball, as superintendent of the Shawnee Mission Schools, has the responsibility of linking the school to community. Solving crucial roblems, as well as presenting new ideas, were only part of his time P consuming iob. Dr. Molotsky, East area superintendent, oversaw the budgets and for our school. He was responsible for the art area renova- tion and the new photography area. Working together, the board, Dr. Ball, and Dr. Molotsky over- came many complications and efficiently organized over 65 high schools, iunior high schools, and elementary schools. Counselors 8 Kelly D Wolff H Gersh R Soptc P. Dittlemore, R. Crawford. A plethora of problems may arise in a student's life. The competent staff of counselors were ready to aid anyone to the best of their abilities. Whether it be a problem with family, friends, classes, or schedule, the counselors were there to advise, con- sole, and help. Serving as a mediator between parents, admin- istration, and students was one factor of their iob. Helping students with college and vocational plans was another maior portion. Many who had never sought help from their counselors found it difficult to request a counselor's recommendation for col- lege. But those who had utilized the counseling facilities found the counselors eager to help. The tremendous amount of work and effort the counselors put into their work was returned in the satisfaction of seeing a student surmount a diffi- culty. Free Advice i I
