is ,xi We enter high school, and are bewildered by a multitude of conflicting values. We experiment . . . seeking security by adopting the viewpoints of other. We allow our morality to be influenced by our peers Yet we become dissatisfied with their inconsistencies of personality- and continue to search. Eventually, we detect the insecurities which are hidden by facades. We recognize our own lack of assurance, and learn to accept, not condemn it in others. And with this realization we awaken to our own self-worth. The development of individuality, not merely for the sake of being different, is perhaps the greatest challenge we face- and the least definitive. Graduation marks the end of our secondary education. Yet it remains unreality, until suddenly, we are aware that time has run out. We can do nothing to change what we have established as our high school memories. Our experiences at East, unique to us, take on new meaning in retrospect. Numerous crisis, emotional traumas, are seen in a different light, with the perspective that only time can grant. This reflection on the past provokes questioning . . Did I make the most of every encounter? Appreciate the value of honest friendship? Did l represent my true character to others by the image I portrayed? And no matter how we respond, a fact remains- One period of our life is over forever. From here, we must move onward- to new faces, a new environment, new challenges. What we choose to take with us reflects what we will become.
