The memories of the Class of 1981 began in 1977 when we fearfully entered Shawnee High School for our first day of school. One of our earliest memories was Mr. Steinmetz s welcoming slide show. A long list of clubs and activities was described during the Orientation Assembly. And it seemed as though there was a group for every student s interest. Our sophomore year opened with the first of three years of successful Spirit Week competition. Of our many fund-raising events the largest mon- ey-makers were the candy sale and the sale of pom-poms at the football games. Our Junior year begins. Who will ever forget the Nerd Dance? Shawnee High had never seen anything like it. The Junior Dinner Dance was our first formal dance. Organized and hosted by the junior class officers it proved to be a special night for all. fsorry about the band.l Without the help of our hard working advisors Mrs. Decker and Mr. Wierzalis we never would have been able to put this one together. We re seniors at last! The Shawnee Mouse flys and we finally win Spirit Week. We worked hard to raise money for our Florida class trip with a dance marathon the Great Balloon Race candy sales and the Variety Show. Finally we embarked on the trip we had all been waiting for- Disney World. We spent three unforgettable days basking in the Florida sun and enjoying the Magic Kingdom. After returning from Florida we put the final touches on our Senior Prom. This evening proved to be one that will live on in our memories. Now our year as seniors is over and we begin to hum Pomp and Circumstance in preparation for the biggest night of our Shawnee career. We ve done it all and done it well. Here we come the class with the spirit the Class of 81. Marcy Matta Historian Y I I I I I I . . ' l Y ,. . . 3 . . . . l . . I l . , . . . .
