Mr. Schmunk Named Superintendent Of Clark County Schools My association with Springfield Local Schools during the past 12 years has been extremely satisfying. Any accomplishments that have occurred there have been as a result of the outstanding cooperation from the stu- dents, parents, educators, and board members. These were the words of Springfield Local Superintendent Roy Schmunk when he learned on March 18 that he had been named the new superintendent of Clark County Schools, replacing R. Henry Campbell, who is retiring. Mr. Schmunk is pictured left at the dedication cere- mony of Shawnee ' s new building additions last December 7. He is pictured below accepting a farewell gift of a watch from the Board of Education. Board President U. Timothy Juergens makes the presentation as board members Charles McWilliams, Jack Kame, Dorothy Slagle and William Winkler look on. Shawnee High School faculty members and students join together to express appreciation for the hard work and dedication that have marked the twelve years of Mr. Schmunk ' s leadership in Springfield Local Schools; and to extend best wishes to him in his new position . 51

Joint Vocational School Offers Job Opportunities This year 123 Shawnee students elected to attend the Clark County Joint Vocational School, majoring in such areas as Auto Mechanics, Accounting and Computing, Carpentry, Commercial An, Cosmetology, Distributive Education, Construction, Electricity, Machine Trades, Masonry, Office Machines, Honicuhure, Dental Assistants, Welding, Plumbing, and Communications Electronics. These students have done ' double duty ' through their studies at JVS and their extra-curricular accomplishments at both JVS and Shawnee. We share their pride in JVS and its tremendous contribution to Clark County ' s educational facilities.
