Remnants of the society were buried on the school grounds, and next year ' s class will undertake the project of an archeological digging to unearth the ' mystery civilization ' and reconstruct the society as nearly as possible to its origin. This project is a ' first ' (at least to our knowledge) in high-school anthropology projects in U.S. schools. Participants in the project afe: Barb Baldwin, Pam Dooley, Kay Trenner, Sandy Gibson, David Fox, Steve Weed, Brenda Perkins and Mr. Ray- mond. 28

We ' ll Miss You, Bud! Bud Neff ' s memories of Shawnee go back to January , 1959 , when he began his eighteen -year tenure of service the first year that our school was open. His deci- sion to retire at the conclusion of this school year leaves us with a sense of irre- placeable loss, for Shawnee High School without Bud Neff is virtually impossible to imagine . Ten years ago the yearbook staff dedi- cated their edition of the Shawano to Bud, and our feelings regarding this fine man cannot be reflected any more clearly or sincerely than through repeating the words of that 1966 dedication. We hold him, as a long-time friend, in high esteem for his unselfish devotion to Shawnee High and its students , ' ' they wrote. Dances, pep rallies, assemblies, games - these are but a few of the activi- ties that involve the services of this tintir- ing and patient man who has put above all other things the school and the people within it . Happy retirement. Bud. We ' ll miss you. 29
