Naomi Reed Stars in The Diary of Anne Frank ' January 31st brought the tense drama, ' The Diary of Anne Frank, ' to Shawnee ' s stage with Thespian Society President Naomi Reed portraying Anne. The ' attic Annex ' and the Jews (including the Frank fam- ily) who hid there for three years during World War II to escape the terror of the Gestapo were realistically brought to life in this production. The story told in the drama is especially poignant, for it is true, and Anne ' s diary was actually found by her father who survived the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp . This play, which marked the directing debut at Shawnee for Mr . Dave Railsback , proved an exciting and memorable evening for the capacity crowd in attendance . Mi. The holidays started with a swing, with Dale Grim supplying the music for the annual Christmas dance . The Christmas dance , spon- sored by the senior class, was a sparkling success, with Santa Claus being the honored guest. The holi- days ended with yearbook staffers and FCA members involved in a 24- hour rocking chair marathon to raise money for both organizations. As a whole, it was an active way to end the old year and bring in the new ! 118 L. TO R: John Essit id date, Becky McDonald give Santa (Jack Kama) a clue about Chiistmas wishes; Deb McWilliaras and Tim Mattern enjoy music at Chii -. $ dance; Santa draws large crowd of spectators.
