How Do We Remember Mrs. Hickes? Those of us who were fortunate enough to have been students in one of her math classes fondly recall that she was an inspiration for excellence - she believed in us and ultimately helped us to believe in ourselves . Some of us remember her as the lady who turned the National Honor Society from a one-event-a-year honorary organization into one of the most active her advisorship . Still others of us , who only knew her in passing, may remember her as the lady in room 15 whose gracious ways and friendly smile always made the day more pleasant. Her thirteen years of teaching in Springfield Local School District, the last five of which have been spent as Math Department Chairman at Shawnee, drew to an end in June , 1975 , and we wish her the greatest of hap- piness in her retirement. It is with deep pride that the senior class de dicates this book to Mrs. Kathryn Hickes. « :
