English students struggled through another year of Shaki ' spcaii ' s Macbeth— and the memory work. We not (inK rrlhcd five acts of the tragedy and discovered lh;it Shakespearean sonnets deal with the eternal veri- ties of life but also acquired a worth-while back- ground in grammar. In all the English classes there was an ultimate uniting of the knowledge attained in the various studies. Thus, we could more fully realize the significance of the changes that have occurred since the age of Chaucer or Thoreau. The importance of speaking fluently is stressed in the Spanish classes. Students got into the appropriate mood by observing Spanish films, giving frequent con- versations, singing songs in Spanish, tape-recording speeches, and writing letters to pen pals. Although Latin is no longer spoken, it continues to enrich our thoughts as we study about the distinguish- ed military leaders of Rome, the legendary gods, the mar ' elous aqueducts, and Rome ' s significant contribu- tions to modern civilization. This year academic home economics was offered for interested junior and senior girls.
