Shawnee is designed and operated to prepare young people to live effectively. In order to develop the many abilities and satisfy the interests of contemporary youth, our curriculum is divided into four departments. For those interested in college, the college preparatory course is available. This course pro- vides the student with the necessary academic requirements for admission into any college or university in the United States. Girls interested in becoming typists and sec- retaries may take the commercial course. In this course they not only learn typing and short- hand, but they also become acquainted with the many business machines which they will be using. The vocational department trains future farm- ers, mechanics, and homemakers. Pupils in these departments also learn, by practical experience, the techniques which they will later employ.
