They not only have kept this large plant running smoothly, but also have kept the work on the new high school building moving forward. That the new building was completed ahead of schedule indicates their success. We have reason to be proud of this board of education, who have worked so tirelessly to make Shawnee a school that never stands still. SCHOOL NURSE Luena Gallup. R.N. Q 0 The expanding high school population over the past three decades not only has brought about extensive changes in the physical plant, but also has been the means of expanding and enriching the curriculum of our school. From a beginning faculty of seven teachers and an offering of twenty-five different subjects we have now developed to the point where we are able to include sixty-one different courses with a high school faculty of thirty. This lends suffi- cient variety to our course of study so that every student should be able to pursue his vocational interest as well as to develop his native talent. Nowhere is the growth of Shawnee School more manifest than in its extra-class activities, with the many and diversified student organizations that now exist. From a meager handful of students en- rolled in five organizations in 1926, thirty years of growth now shows a combined enrollment of 1154- students in twenty-five groups. These figures do not include the many boys engaged in the full sports program offered to Shawnee students. While the specific goals of each club may vary, the over- all aims still remain the same: to provide an opportunity for every student to take part in prop- erly supervised extra-class activities each according to his interests, his needs and his ability to benefit. As our growth continues, we are ever mindful of the responsibility of adjusting and converting our total resources and educational programs to the needs of our times. O. C.
