PURPOSES FOR A SCHOOL Two of the prime purposes of any public high school are: first, to prepare the youth to earn a living, and, second, to mold their attitudes and character so that they know how to livei' a living. Shawnee High School is always trying to improve on these two lines of endeavor. Our school is growing very rapidly in members, but we should grow not only in physical size, but also in our services to boys and girls. We aim to enlarge our facilities for guidance to help direct each stu- dent into agreeable and usable channels of living. We aim to work more visual education into our courses of study. We aim to improve steadily the moral char- acter and the civic outlook of our students in general. Quantity is all right, but we feel that THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR QUALITY. I C G LAPPIN BA SPIRIT OF FRIENDLINESS As we view Shawnee School, We find there are many things to which we can point with pride. One item, however, so representative of the spirit of the school, may not be apparent at first glance. I refer to the traditional friendliness that exists in the many phases of our community-school life. Since the school started, there has been a constant growth in community interest and participation in its total program. Students, teachers and parents work together in a spirit of mutual respect and co- operation to accomplish that which is best for the entire school effort.
