The library workroom is the place where most of the action of this staff took place. , After the theme was chosen, write-ups were assigned, and pictures were taken. Some member of the staff could usually be found in the workroom either cutting and pasting pictures in the dummy, identifying pictures, or, in short, getting the Quilna ready for the press. lt was work but a lot of fun too, and we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed preparing it for you. This was no easy job. But it wasn't all work and no play because Janet Burget and Marjorie Koop wanted to see if they could run l4 flights of stairs in the Cook Tower more quickly than Marilyn Davidson could come down in the elevator, Who won? Come noon time you're likely to hear the noise of the mimeograph and see people rushing madly to and fro, spattered with rainbow colors. These mimeograph operators not only run the pages but also experi- ment with colors for the illustrations. Miss Gorman has charge of the typists who are kept busy typing the articles, and they do a fine job. The business staff is not to be regarded lightly as their work is essential to the production of the paper. If they didn't succeed in securing ads for the paper it couldn't be printed. The money from these ads goes for the ink and paper. Mr. Weaver, as one of the advisers, helped at the beginning of the year to direct the business staff in securing the ads, and he also helps in the dis- tribution of the Chief to the different advertisers and school exchanges. Wan'a Buy A Paper? 42 Cglizef taff Despite these trials and tribulations, the staff still seems able to turn out a newsy and interesting paper, mostly due to the fact that the hard work- ing editor, Marilyn Riffle, was capable of writing, typing and illustrating if the need arose. However it seldom did, for Marilyn was ably assisted by the art editor, Mary Alice Kerr. The reporters, editors, advertisers, art staff, in fact, everyone worked together to turn out a fine school paper once each month and they kept the student body posted.
