Seam Glam llaafdfacq The year 1950: Several of us were looking through some papers ten and twelve years old, and found, to our dismay, that many of our old class- mates of the year 1943 were among the names listed. It was interesting to compare the stu- dents' activities then with what they are do- ing now. We found the following: MARTHA ANN MOORE, the perfect wife, waiting for doctor husband, DICK KING, to come home from a call to the office. KATHRYN CKHAKIJ KNOUSE, wearing her silver wingsv on her third finger, left hand. BOB ASHBY seated behind a dentist's chair with his hcarming nurse, VERNA RUTH FORSTON. BETTIE DEATHERAGE COOLEY finally had reached her lifelong ambition of becom- ing boxing champion of the Shawnee Wo- rn-enis team. EILEEN KUMLER had become head of the Oklahoma Division of Womens Christian Temperance Union with ESMA WYANT as vice-president. WANDA SHEPHERD finally has that farm down in Connecticut she had been talking about for so long. But where were the nine cats she also referred to? NORMA RAPP and EMMA JEAN BURNS were together as always, but this time as old maids, still plotting how to catch a man Without using their trusty net. DOROTHY ANN HIGLEY and ANN LOW- REY were still laughing at each other's jokes, as they used to do in former high school days. Or were they just laughing at each other? MELVIN CLARK was leading his former band, f'The Old Timersi' with JACQUE BURNS on the JeW's harp, in his original composition, the Green Corn Boogie. We next saw our old friend, COTTON ADAMS, better known as Colonel Adams, for his heroic deeds in World War II, industrious- ly carrying out his usual job of chopping cherry trees on the White House grounds. BETTYE CURRIN had become head driver of a National Trucking Firm because of her unusual ability in safe and better driving. We saw LINDSAY PETERS suffering from a mental breakdown caused from worrying too much about those two absences from class he had back in 'fl3. BILL RICHARDS had finally become head of the Cute Carrier Boys Union and his famous writer-wife, ANNE PORTERFIELD, had completed her third book in a series en- titled Home Problems Made Easy. DICK WILLIAMS was still comparing moron jokes with anyone who was sucker enough to listen. It might also be mentioned here that a perfect example of MISS BUDD'S her- ic couplet were DICK WILLIAMS and GLADYS WILES.
