Leslie Whitehouse, more commonly known as Cyn, is one member of our teamhwho is worthy of special mention. The pictures were all copies of famous master-pieces and nt-enpied the entire wall space of two rooms. An entertaining prngrziin was rendered by the various grades and by some of Sha- wzniifs talented citizens. A small admission fee was charged and the money realized from this source is to be expended in the purchase of pictures for the dillerent rooms. The fourth grade pupils, taught by Bliss Williams, received a prize picture, ready framed, for selling the greatest number of tickets from one room. The net proceeds of the exhibit :ire about forty dollars and this amount is novv in the bank to the credit uf the school. It is planned to have a school exhibit at the Vnnnty lfair next fall and to add the premium money to that now on hand in order that pictures of good grade may be purchased for all the Hvwllls. The schools of Shawano are certainly underobligations to the Woinaink Club for this and other favors. The gig together with an advertisement on every available space, and megaphones worked by hard f lungs drew a large crowd who 5 is b v when once trapped by the high school boys, were glad to escape after they had left a few dimes. During the year two High School parties were held, one in Octo- her and one in December. Both times the hall was tastily decorated and good music secured. Only members of the High School and a few townspeople were invited to these gatherings. A large' attend- ance. good times and a general success were characteristic of both. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION DANCES. In April a dance was given for the benefit of the Athletic Associa- ation. It occured immediately .after Lent and a large crowd was ex- pected. llut the Association met with disappointment. for atythe time there were many cases of scarlet fever in the city and when the boys had paid the hills, they found that the net proceeds were just one dollar. Ilowever, those present had a merry time and felt Well repaid for their trouble. Besides this dance, several informal dances have heeu given by the Athletic Association following games and those were well attended. JUNIOR PROM. IHm::.iiilf::iinll1:. William Josiah Solomon Benjamin Holrmzm, 3 promising young man of the Freshman class, distinguished lllmgnlf by his coolness when all others were suffering from the heat and bv his sagacious daring in spreading the alarm prevented what might have been a catastrophe. This youthful hero who had spent about fifteen minutes in the Assembly room wildly waving his arms and snapping his lingers in a valiant effort to attract the attention of the teacher in charge, nnally secured permission to retire. Forty minutes later he returned With measured tread and in stenatorian tones pronounced the words: '.'Fire! Fir-re! Fi-r-r-r-r-r-el Immediately there was a rush for the fire-escapes for there was but one flight of stairs and those were much too weak to sustain more than one couple per corner. The young people, being unaccustomed to the prison-door step ladders known as Schweers' Spirometers, and lacking the agility of trained acrobats, failed in some instances to make connections with the massive bars of angle iron known as steps. One freshman fell the entire length of the fire-escape, breaking several ribs and other bones and sustaining a compound fracture of his growth. The entire class felt the shock. .
