I Q . Q I - V , 43 T . gp , On November 11th, the Annual Corona- tion for Miss Shaw University was held in Spaulding Gymnasium. Outstanding talents of SHAW paid tribute to the new Miss Shaw U. Former Miss Shaw's, as well as representatives of visiting schools and friends, were in attendance. . The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Dottie S. Harrison, a young lady we are truly proud of, as Miss Shaw. The Shaw Family will long remember the night of fun, fellowship and entertainment. The theme for the occasion was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. g'

ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVENTH FOUNDEFVS DAY CONVOCATION 1865-1976 On November 12, the University once again held its an- nual Founder's Day Ceremonies. Graveside services were held in the Tupper Memorial Gardens on campus. Miss Shaw, Dottie S. Harrison, and S.G.A. President Larry Williams placed the wreath at the tomb of Dr. Tupper. The quotations were delivered by Ac- ting President Richard L. Fields. The taps and tolling of the bell was by Isaac Spears, a student. Afterward the freshman class led the faculty, staff and university officials in procession to Memorial Auditorium. The Founder's Day address was delivered by Dr. Joy J. Johnson, president of the General Baptist State Conven- tion and a member of the N.C. House of Representatives. Selections were given by the University Chorale Society under the direction of Dr. Harry Gil-Smythe and the University Band under the direction of Edward L. Graves. Honorary degrees were conferred upon Milton E. Owens fpresented by Trustee George C. Debnami and Chester A. Hart tpresented by trustee O.L. Sherrilli.
