The Shaw National Alumni Association is delighted to welcome the class of 1953 into the fellowship of educated men and women and into a broader and larger life filled with uncounted, and un-thought-of opportunities. This larger door of opportunities was opened and made possible by inspired thoughts and sacrificial giving of generations who preceded you. Henry Martin Tuppcr who “counted not his life dear unto himself,” that this larger door might be opened today to you. A great host of early Christian friends who followed him with sacrificial blood and sweat now symbolized in brick and mortar . . . Yes, a host of instructors and more than ten thousand graduates who- have preceded you bear testimony to this truth — that these buildings on the Shaw campus will offer nurture and culture to young men and women for ages to come.
