In addition to lead- ing medleys and cheers at rallies, football, and basketball games, the cheerleaders have also played host to the North Ridge- ville High cheerleaders. Their Mr. Touchdown shakeroo routine was an outstanding success as were their many other rally skits. Girls are selected for the squad by a special committee consisting of the graduating senior cheerleaders and Miss Smith. Although the tryouts are difficult and the competition keen, Shaw has produced one of the best squads in the area. Proof of this is the fact that they entered and won first prize in a cheerleading contest through which two of the girls, Sue Beat- tie and Becky Morrow, received awards to attend Camp All American. Through endless hours of hard work these girls have established a squad of which Shaw may well be proud. VARSITY V VARIETY Lamrol Sillng :md Linrln llzmkllvy J. V.'S RAH. Aid to a Greek orphan, guidance for new students are just two examples of the many services performed by the Student Council. Its contributions to this orphan are the main means of support for the girl and her mother. The orientation pro- gram provides information about the school for new students. In addition to these activities, the Council is responsible for the All-School Party, rallies, and the election of the Foot- ball Queen and the May Queen. Bright, red plaid is the new feature of the Rhythm-Teens. This along with the best in musical talent has led the group to be lauded by all ages. Only the second time in history a standing ovation has been given an as- sembly at Painesville Harvey High. This is the opinion of Jolm Mummy, President of the Paincsville llarvey Student Foun- cil. It is only one example of the honor and praises the Rhythm-Teens have received in their many miles of travel. The amazing fact about this group is that the rehearsing is done on their own time outside of school under the direction of hfiss lfargery Shields and Mr. S. llob- ert Fraser. A list of some of the notable places where the Rhythm-Teens have performed is: The Hotel-Sheraton for the National Business Teachers Association Conven- tion, The Wade Park hlanor, The Ohio Kiwanis' Convention, The Ilotel Carter, and The Statler-Hilton for the Rotary Club. l ronl RIJWA-J2lIl0t Larson, ltlargaret fNtl2lIIliJ0I'S, Janet Schuff, Joan Fraser.
